National Organization: Self Storage Association

The national SSA is an industry trade association for self-storage owners, operators and suppliers. Administration and affiliation are different questions. An association can be affiliated with the national SSA while retaining separate state administration. We do not classify an organization from its domain name, shared website software or mailing address.

National association

Listed in the national SSA’s current third-party managed category.
Separately administered state association
Official staffing or governance information supports separate state administration; any verified national affiliation is noted separately.
Regional association
An official organization with verified coverage of more than one state.
Relationship not yet verified
The organization and official website are verified, but the administrative relationship has not been corroborated.

Warm-Weather and Sun Belt Associations

This jump section highlights associations relevant to planning warm-weather and winter maintenance conversations. It is not a strict latitude boundary or a guarantee that winter painting will be suitable at a particular property. California and Nevada are included alongside Southern and Sun Belt states; conditions and coating requirements still determine project viability.

Using Associations as an Owner or Operator

Start with the organization serving the property’s state. Review its membership categories and ask which educational, operational and legal resources apply to your facility. State-specific laws and contracts deserve state-specific review; association materials are resources to discuss with the appropriate professional, not a substitute for reviewing your own circumstances.

Use official conference calendars to find education and operator networking. A vendor directory can help identify service providers to evaluate, but a directory listing alone does not establish suitability for a project. Compare relevant experience, the proposed scope, references and contractual requirements.

Using Associations as an Industry Vendor

Review associate, supplier or vendor membership categories and ask whether a public listing, event exhibit space, advertising placement or sponsorship is included or separately purchased. Confirm audience, deadlines, costs, display requirements and member access with the association.

Membership and participation can support industry education and relationships. They do not automatically establish an association endorsement or preferred-provider status. This directory uses alphabetical ordering and does not sell rankings or accept payment for preferred placement.
