Self-storage education is an ecosystem, not one type of product. A podcast can introduce a topic; a course can organize learning; coaching can provide feedback; a community can connect investors; and a trade association can supply industry education. An investment sponsor serves another purpose: offering an opportunity to participate in a business run by someone else. Start by deciding which of those needs you have.
This guide describes publicly presented resources and the questions they raise. Inclusion is not a ranking, endorsement or assessment of investment performance. Experience-level descriptions reflect the providers’ positioning, not an independent measurement of member outcomes. A named program’s presence on a website does not confirm that a place is currently available.
Resource comparison

Investor educators and communities
These resources are primarily presented as ways to learn, discuss acquisitions or develop operating skills. Compare the actual product you would receive, not just the organization’s overall reputation or an individual’s public story.
Storage Rebellion and Chris Michaels
What Is Storage Rebellion?
Storage Rebellion is a self-storage investor community with education and support tracks for different stages of ownership. Its current website presents the Network, First Close, Insiders and The Storage Rebellion Show. Chris Michaels is identified as CEO and the show’s host. Those resources should be evaluated separately: a first-acquisition coaching program and an established-owner mastermind address different problems.
Who Is Storage Rebellion For?
The official “Start Here” page distinguishes new investors pursuing a first deal, buyers seeking more hands-on acquisition support, and established owners developing portfolios. Choose a track by the work you need help doing now. Someone still learning basic underwriting may need different support from an operator deciding how to expand an existing business.
The Storage Rebellion Network
The Network is presented as a starting point for new investors building foundations and pursuing an initial acquisition. The public pathway describes training, weekly support and relationships with active investors. Its enrollment link leads to a separate community platform. Confirm the current membership format, access to instructors, billing and cancellation terms directly before joining; the enrollment screen could not be independently read during this review.
First Close
First Close is an application-based coaching program for a first facility or early portfolio. The current program page lists an acquisition course, private member communication, a community workspace, two monthly group coaching calls, a document library and an execution checklist. Ask what “deal support” includes in practice, who reviews a prospective purchase, and whether feedback covers your intended market and transaction structure.
The page publicly lists an initial payment and recurring membership charge. This guide does not reproduce prices; confirm the current written fee schedule, what is included and the cancellation terms before applying. Coaching is not a promise that you will acquire a facility within a particular period.
Storage Rebellion Insiders
Insiders is presented as a vetted mastermind for established owners scaling a storage business. The provider describes monthly mastermind calls, retreats, deal discussions, peer strategy support and industry introductions. Its current positioning excludes people merely considering storage and operators at the beginning of their first acquisition. Ask about admission requirements, retreat costs, attendance expectations and the experience mix of the actual group.
The Storage Rebellion Show
The current official podcast page names Chris Michaels as host and provides Spotify, Apple Podcasts and YouTube links. The show discusses investors, operators, leadership and building a self-storage business. Use episodes to identify questions and perspectives; a guest’s story is not evidence of a typical purchase outcome or a substitute for property-specific diligence.

Questions to Ask Before Joining a Self-Storage Investing Community
- Which track fits my current experience, and what would justify changing tracks?
- Who provides the live feedback, and what happens between scheduled sessions?
- Will anyone examine my underwriting assumptions, or is support mainly curriculum and discussion?
- What are the total initial, recurring and event costs, and how do I cancel?
- Do instructors or members have a financial interest in vendors, financing referrals or deals introduced to the group?
Questions to ask: Ask for the current agreement and a written explanation of support boundaries, eligibility and availability.

StorageNerds and Stacy Rossetti
StorageNerds identifies Stacy Rossetti as its founder and educator. Its public approach covers finding facilities, financing acquisitions and running operations. The website presents StorageNerds Academy, acquisition services and a Facility Owner Mastermind, so the audience extends from new buyers to owners working on management and portfolio growth.
The Academy page describes digital instruction, live group coaching, a member portal, templates and a deal-analysis tool. Acquisition services are a separate service offering; do not assume they are included in every educational purchase. The owner-oriented resources focus on operating questions rather than only a first closing.
The podcast linked by StorageNerds is presented on Stacy Rossetti’s website as “StorageNerds – Self Storage Income Podcast.” It is distinct from AJ Osborne’s Self Storage Income resource described below.
Questions to ask: Which courses and live sessions are included in this membership? Are acquisition services separately contracted? Who verifies the assumptions in the deal-analysis tool, and what support continues after closing?

Self-Storage School and Bree Hartman
Self-Storage School publicly identifies Bree Hartman as its instructor. The current website describes a 12-month course and live mentorship centered on purchasing a first self-storage facility. The curriculum follows finding, analyzing, funding, making offers and operating a property, with lessons, coaching, office hours, case discussions and working templates.
The program appears principally designed for first-facility buyers, including people moving from other real-estate experience; the site also says it has material for intermediate and experienced investors. The advertised learning structure should be distinguished from any marketing timetable for achieving a purchase. Completion of a course does not establish financing availability or the quality of a particular acquisition.
Questions to ask: What is the current cohort schedule and live-session commitment? How are actual deals reviewed? What remains available after the mentorship period? Does the instruction address the operating model and property type I am considering?
Official website: Self-Storage School. A dedicated official podcast was not independently confirmed for this entry.

Self Storage Income and AJ Osborne
Self Storage Income identifies AJ Osborne as its founder and is associated with his self-storage podcast, educational material and community. Its public resources address markets, underwriting, acquisitions and operations. The website presents a starter resource package, a book and operator-focused community material; confirm the current access model for any paid offering.
The official podcast page provides listening platforms and episodes ranging from first-facility questions to underwriting and operating topics. This makes the free library useful for learning vocabulary and comparing approaches before deciding whether further instruction is needed. The site’s separate investment link should not be confused with an education purchase.
Questions to ask: Which resources are free and which require paid access? Is the community intended for my operating stage? Who gives feedback on a deal, and does a service or investment opportunity involve a separate agreement?
Official website: Self Storage Income. Podcast: official podcast page.

Self Storage Investing and Scott Meyers
Self Storage Investing, associated with Scott Meyers, presents education for actively finding, evaluating, buying and managing facilities. Its public pathways include Self Storage Academy and a mastermind. The Academy description covers sourcing facilities, acquisition financing, private-equity considerations and management. Confirm the current format and dates directly: the reviewed website contains both older event notices and a later Academy notice.
This is the educational operation. Its official website links passive investors to Passive Storage Investing, a distinct investor-facing pathway discussed next. A training enrollment and an investment subscription are different decisions with different agreements. Scott Meyers-related podcast resources are linked through the Passive Storage Investing podcast archive; this review did not establish a separate current podcast landing page on the education homepage.
Questions to ask: What event or curriculum is currently being sold? Which coaching and deal-review services are included? What experience is required for the mastermind? Are advanced programs or services additional purchases?

Investment sponsors and syndicators
The next entries concern investor-facing businesses rather than simply a course or mastermind. Public educational material can help explain their approach, but the decision to invest requires separate diligence into the specific offering, sponsor, governing documents and risks.
Passive Storage Investing
Passive Storage Investing publicly features Scott Meyers and presents sponsor-managed investment opportunities, an investor-interest process, an investor portal, articles, webinars and podcast resources. It is distinct in purpose from his active-ownership education operation: the prospective investor is evaluating participation in an investment rather than learning to personally acquire and operate a facility.
The site’s disclosures say that its website is informational and that specific investment opportunities are governed by offering documentation. Do not treat a marketing description of passive income, a testimonial or a published historical result as a contractual distribution promise. Eligibility and available opportunities must be confirmed for the particular offering.
Questions to ask: Who manages the asset, what fees and conflicts apply, and what rights do investors have? What capital calls, debt, holding period, transfer restrictions and reporting provisions appear in the documents? What could interrupt distributions?
Official website: Passive Storage Investing. Podcast: official podcast page.

Self Storage Syndicated Equities and Fernando Angelucci
Self Storage Syndicated Equities, or SSSE, presents itself as a self-storage syndicator focused on value-add acquisitions and development. Its current leadership page names Fernando Angelucci as Chief Executive Officer and Steven Wear as Chief Marketing Officer. Public resources include information about the business, an introductory investor discussion and an investor portal.
This is an investment-sponsor profile, not a coaching-program listing. Someone researching direct ownership should distinguish SSSE’s sponsored investment model from a program that teaches a buyer to run a facility. This guide does not reproduce its marketing claims about returns, resilience or downside protection.
Questions to ask: What is the specific project and offering structure? Who is responsible for operations and development? What debt, fees, related-party arrangements, investor rights and exit assumptions apply? How is investor eligibility established?
Official website: Self Storage Syndicated Equities. A dedicated official podcast was not independently confirmed for this entry.

Publishers, forums and trade resources
These organizations provide broader information or industry infrastructure. They should not be described as personal coaching programs merely because their material can teach investors about self-storage.
BiggerPockets’ Self-Storage Educational Resources
BiggerPockets is a wider real-estate publishing and community platform with articles, forums, books and podcasts. Its self-storage material includes interviews and author contributions rather than a single self-storage coaching track. An official podcast episode with Paul Moore connects the topic to his book Storing Up Profits.
Use the resource library to compare acquisition models and questions. Date-check an episode before relying on its market discussion or financing examples. Forum conversations are useful prompts for further research; they do not verify a program’s current terms or establish the condition of a property. Leadership for this entry is the editorial and contributor group rather than an invented single self-storage program host.
Questions to ask: Is this material current for my question? Is it an editorial resource, paid membership, author product or third-party offer? What does a paid purchase add beyond the publicly accessible material?
Official website: BiggerPockets. Podcast: official podcast page.

Inside Self-Storage
Inside Self-Storage, part of Informa Markets, is an industry publisher and education resource. Its official overview describes industry news and articles, a magazine, digital resources, the ISS World Expo, an education store and the Self-Storage Talk community. The resource center includes podcast and video material alongside written information.
The intended readership spans people entering the industry and established owners, managers, developers and suppliers. This makes it useful for investigating operational questions and industry developments beyond an acquisition curriculum. Its editorial staff and contributors are the public-facing resource providers; it is not a named educator’s coaching program.
Questions to ask: Is the item editorial, sponsored, a paid training product or an event? Which session level fits my role? Does a paid package include recordings, and what are the access and cancellation terms?
Official website: Inside Self-Storage. Podcast: official podcast page.
Last reviewed: . Sources: official source 1, official source 2.
The Self Storage Association
The Self Storage Association is a trade association representing the self-storage industry. Its current staff directory names Timothy J. Dietz as President and CEO. Publicly described resources include conferences, Online University, the Certified Self Storage Manager program, acquisition and valuation education, industry publications and advocacy information.
Its audience includes owners, managers, investors and other industry professionals. Membership, employee training and executive education have different purposes and eligibility requirements. The association’s certification offering should not be interpreted as a credential held by SFPS or by every person using an association resource.
Questions to ask: Which benefits require membership, and which membership category applies? What prerequisites and continuing requirements apply to a training credential? Does the relevant event address acquisition buyers, managers or established operators?
Official website: Self Storage Association. Podcast: official podcast page.
Last reviewed: . Sources: official source 1, official source 2, official source 3, official source 4.
Active Ownership and Marketed “Passive Income”
Direct ownership means someone remains responsible for the business: acquisition diligence, financing, staffing or third-party management, tenant processes, maintenance and capital decisions. Hiring a manager changes who performs tasks; it does not remove the owner’s need to supervise the arrangement and fund the property’s obligations.
A sponsor-managed investment may give an investor fewer day-to-day duties, while also giving that investor different control, liquidity and information rights. “Passive” describes a role, not an absence of risk or a guaranteed distribution. Understand whether you are buying education, paying for acquisition assistance, joining a community or subscribing to an investment. Do not combine those commitments into one decision merely because they appear in the same marketing funnel.
For a proposed investment, review the actual documents with appropriate independent legal, tax and financial advisers. This guide describes resource categories; it does not recommend an investment or establish the suitability of a provider for your circumstances.
Questions Before Paying for Education, Coaching or a Mastermind
- What specific skill or decision do I need help with, and can I first investigate it through free official resources?
- What deliverables are in the agreement: lessons, live feedback, underwriting review, templates, introductions or acquisition services?
- Who actually teaches and reviews work? Can I see a representative session or curriculum before purchasing?
- How much time will I need, and when are live sessions held? Are recordings and templates retained after membership ends?
- What is the total cost, including recurring charges, upgrades, retreats, travel and separately contracted services?
- What are the cancellation, renewal and refund terms in writing?
- Does the provider earn fees from introduced lenders, vendors, deals or investment opportunities?
- How are confidential deal information and member discussions handled?
- What professional advice is outside the program’s scope?
- How will I judge whether the program fits my learning need without treating selected testimonials as typical results?
Compare a provider’s written deliverables with your present need. Access to a group is different from individual underwriting, and a spreadsheet is different from an independent property inspection. Ask for clarification where a program description uses broad terms such as support, accountability or access.
After You Acquire a Self-Storage Facility
Recently acquired facilities frequently need condition assessment and deferred-maintenance planning. The improvement list may include exterior repainting, corrosion treatment, roll-up-door coating, office repainting and brand-color changes. Separate coating work from structural, water-entry and mechanical repairs, and plan the sequence around an operating property’s tenants and staff.
Begin with dated photographs and a location-based condition inventory. Prioritize repair dependencies before approving a finish system, and agree on colors, work zones and tenant communications. Painting is one part of a post-closing improvement plan; it does not validate the acquisition price or guarantee a financial return.
Bought or acquired a self-storage facility?
SFPS can review facility photographs, visible coating deterioration, roll-up doors, exterior surfaces and rebranding requirements to help develop a preliminary painting scope.
Self-Storage Acquisition Painting and Facility Rebranding explains how to prepare that discussion.
For broader scope decisions, see nationwide painting planning, multi-location and portfolio painting and the facility-painting ROI framework. The project galleries and our process provide additional context for evaluating painting work.

Sources and Last-Reviewed Date
Editorial author: Storage Facility Painting Services Editorial Team. Last reviewed: October 13, 2026 (UTC). Each profile links the official pages used for its description. Where an official page contains inconsistent dates or an inaccessible enrollment screen, the affected detail is qualified rather than reconstructed from older descriptions.
The entries were selected to explain different kinds of resources requested for this guide, not to provide an exhaustive directory. Experience-level descriptions are editorial interpretations of the providers’ stated audiences. No audience size, student acquisition total, typical success rate, investment return or testimonial is used as comparative evidence.
Review each entry independently when programs, hosts, events or availability change. Verify the official source before publishing an update and record the new review date. Research monitoring can flag a possible change; it does not authorize an automatic website edit.
